There was no surprise and France defeated Russia by 2 runs to 4 in a match that was started by the French team’s pitcher, Samuel Meurant, who stayed on the mount during the 9 innings. France advanced in the 1st inning thanks to a base on balls with the bases loaded that set the score to 0-2. El 0-3 arrived in the following inning and Russia added emotion with 2 scores in the 3rd, with a triple by Alexander Vasiliev, 2 runs batted in that left the French advantage at a minimum (2-3). The tranquilizing run for France arrived in the 5th inning and, though the Russian pitcher was replaced by Anton Shirokiy by the starting Viacheslav Vasiliev, though that didn’t change anything. At the end of the day Italy and Great Britain are at the top of Group B. |
