ITALIA 1 FRANCE 5

PREVIA

The surprise arrived: Italia, one of the favourites, lost 1-5

Italia, 8 times European Champion, silver medallist on 15 occasions and bronce another 3 was the big surprise, losing 1 to 5 against France, on the third day of Group B in the European Championship that are being disputed in the Spanish cities Barcelona, Viladecans and Sant Boi de Llobregat.

The match was sentenced in a 7th memorable inning by the French team that faced its time at the offence when the scoreboard showed a draw: (1-1).

4 runs, even confronting a change of pitcher in the Austrian team, made the match turnover in such away that Italy couldn’t do anything about it.

The surprise started with a sacrifice hit by the first batter, Sebastien Herve, who sent Kenji Hagiwara to the 2nd. Hits by the left-handed Joris Bert, Boris Marche, Gaspard Fessy and Jamel Boutagra, placed the scoreboard on a worrisome 1-4 for the French that, before they accepted the fifth run, tried to vary the course of the match, letting Carlos A. Pezzullo on to the field.

The change did not break the French luck. A hit by Florian Peyrichou put the scoreboard on 1-5.

In short: The inning had 5 hits, a double and 4 runs by the French team. Italy tried to fix the disaster putting Cristopher Di Roma, who maintained the result, on the mound.
