Croatia defeated Austria by 2 to 8 in an uninteresting match between 2 of the last teams in group A. This result meant that the Croatian selection achieved its 1^st victory while the Austrians count 4 defeats from 4 matches played.

After a 1^st and equalized inning (1-1), Croatia scored 3 and left the match at 1 to 4. In the 3 following innings none of them reached a home run and the match was pretty dull for a while.

After a 6^th 'inning' that was also equalized (1-1), Croatia scored the difference in the 7^th after 3 new scores that established the final result as 2-8.
