Croatia ended its participation in the European Baseball Championship in the 9th place after defeating Ukraine by 2 to 1, in an eternal match that needed 4 extra innings to decide the outcome. Though the victory finally went to Croatia, Ukraine, in its turn at the bat in the 13th inning, could have gotten ahead on the scoreboard. A man on 3rd and only 1 offered the Ukrainians 2 options to push their man to home, but it didn’t work out and Croatia, by the end of the inning, sentenced. James Summers was the winning pitcher and the loser was Roman L. Yatsyuk. Both stayed on the mound during the 13 innings, with 40 to 46 turns of batters each. |
