GERMANY 2 - SPAIN 11

FINAL ROUND

Spain defeated Germany by 3 runs to 11 on the first day of the final round of the European Baseball Championship and is now in the 3rd position, after Great Britain and Netherlands, both with 3 fighting for the Championship.

The Spanish team played today the best of the 6 matches disputed so far, and was clearly superior and directed the game in every sense.

The Spanish players were excellent in the 4th inning, which ended with 5 scores and the scoreboard showing an inspiring 0-8, with a double hit by José Cruz who allowed for 2 runs. In the following inning the advantage was increased to 0-9.

Germany reduced the difference in the 6th inning but in the 8th Spain scored again leaving the scoreboard with a difference of 9: 2-11. By the end of the 9th inning, the German team scored a run establishing the final result.

Yoel Fernández, the opening pitcher, and Remigio Leal, a substitute, made an excellent Spanish defense allowing for 2 hits, while, during the attack, Spain connected up to 12 good hits.

The assigned batter, José Cruz, got the cream of the scores with 3 of them, while Daniel Figueroa and Daniel Freire scored 2 each. The triumph the mound was for  trainingr, mientras la derrota se adjudicó al abrir de Germany Manuel  oller
