SPAIN
TRIED HARD AND ALMOST SURPRISED
Spain wasn’t able to surprise and lost 8-10 against Netherlands in
Saturday’s match during the final round of the European Baseball
Championship. The game needed 2 extra innings in order to establish
the winner, after ending the normal 9 innings with a draw of 5 runs.
In spite of the defeat, the Spanish team was only
a step away from victory and was the team that created most problems
for the current European champion that tomorrow will play a decisive
match against Great Britain for the title.
Spain now needs to win over Sweden in order to
repeat the 3rd position from 2005, which was played in
Praga.
With much strategy the Dutch team managed, in the 8th
inning, to equalize the match that was, until then in favor of Spain
by 5 to 2.
The 11th inning was the one that sentenced the match and
the Dutch team had to use their best men to defend it from the good
Spanish attack and defense.
The tie was unmade thanks to a hit by Raily Legito that opened the
patch to victory. In the same inning the Dutch players changed the
score board to 5-10. Spain, in the last inning, scored 3 and that
meant the final result of 8-10. |
